Maidir le Pota Péinte
Is mise Zena, cruthaitheoir atá i mo chónaí in Iarthar na hÉireann. Thosaigh mé ag déanamh píosaí tar éis dom filleadh abhaile ó mo chuid oibre i gcúnamh daonnúil idirnáisiúnta, nuair a bhraith mé an gá le luas níos moille agus fócas difriúil. Thosaigh mé ag glacadh grianghrafanna simplí de bhláthanna le cur i n-albam grianghraf, agus thosaigh rud éigin ag athrú. Den chéad uair, thug mé faoi deara an éagsúlacht bhláthanna fiáine dúchasacha ag fás sna páirceanna beaga balla-clocha gar do mo theach i gConamara.
Ag féachaint níos géire ar na mionsonraí i bpeitil, i ndathanna, agus sa bhithéagsúlacht ollmhór, fuair mé meas nua ar áilleacht bhláthanna fiáine na hÉireann agus mothú athnuaite ar cheangal leis an timpeallacht thart orm. As sin, d’oscail spás cruthaitheach. Ag baint úsáide as ceamara mo ghutháin agus aipeanna cruthaithe íomhánna, thosaigh mé ag cumadh saothar bláthanna as bláthanna Éireannacha, go leor acu dúchasach.
Ba é an rud ba mhó a chuir iontas orm ná cé chomh héasca is féidir rud álainn a chruthú le huirlisí simplí laethúla — agus conas is féidir ár n-aird a athdhíriú ar an dúlra chun suaimhneas agus peirspictíochtaí úra a thabhairt dúinn. Chomh maith le bheith ag cruthú, spreagaim daoine eile chun cruthaitheacht a fhí isteach ina saol laethúil: cártaí a dhéanamh do bhreithlá atá ag teacht, páipéar nó ábhair a athúsáid do bhronntanais, nó áilleacht a aimsiú i rudaí a d’fhéadfaí a chaitheamh amach.
Dar liomsa, ní gá go mbeadh cruthaitheacht eisiach ná cleachtaithe ag ealaíontóirí cumasacha nó aitheanta amháin. Is féidir léi a bheith chomh simplí le tabhairt faoi deara cad atá thart orainn agus é a úsáid ar bhealaí nua.

Tá Pota Péinte bunaithe ar mhúnla inmharthana priontála-ar-éileamh, rud a ligeann dom an chruthaitheacht seo a roinnt, feasacht a mhúscailt faoin dúlra timpeall orainn, agus b’fhéidir daoine eile a spreagadh chun an rud céanna a dhéanamh.
Faoi láthair, cuireann Siopa Pota Péinte ar fáil:
- Leabhair nótaí bláthúla agus luibheolaíocha
- Priontaí ealaíne balla

Foilsímid freisin bailiúcháin shéasúracha a spreagtar ó thírdhreacha athraitheacha na hÉireann, chomh maith le priontaí a dhíríonn ar bhláthanna dúchasacha na hÉireann.
About Pota Péinte
I’m Zena, a creator living in the West of Ireland. I began making pieces after returning home from work in international humanitarian aid, when I found myself needing a slower pace and a different kind of focus. I started by taking simple photos of flowers to add to a photo album, and something began to shift. For the first time, I truly noticed the variety of wild, native flowers growing in the small stone-walled fields near my home in Connemara.
Looking more closely at the details in petals, colours, and the vast biodiversity gave me a new appreciation for the beauty of Ireland’s wildflowers and a renewed sense of connection to the environment around me. From there, a creative space opened up. Using only the camera on my phone and image-creation apps, I began crafting floral compositions from Irish flowers, many of them native.
What surprised me most was how easy it can be to create something beautiful using simple, everyday tools — and how redirecting our attention outward towards nature can bring calm and fresh perspectives.
Alongside creating, I encourage others to weave creativity into daily life: making cards for an upcoming birthday, repurposing old paper or materials for gifts, or finding beauty in things that might otherwise be thrown away.
For me, creativity doesn’t need to be exclusive or practised only by talented or distinguished artists. It can be as simple as noticing what’s around us and using it in new ways.
